DUEL, one of Steven Spielberg's first vehicles, foreshadowed the blockbuster film JAWS. The driver is never seen, except one shot of his beefy arm waving the Valiant ahead into oncoming traffic. Instead, Spielberg uses the monstrous truck itself, much like the way he used the shark in JAWS, to harass california highway traffic condition and taunt. After its broadcast on television, DUEL was released theatrically with extra footage added. The result, Hellbound Highway, an obscure private pressing made its appearance on Renegade Records the same year, but as only about 100 copies were pressed, very few have experienced the delights of this laidback recording. Some of the songs are terrific, particularly the opener california highway traffic condition and title track, with its psych-y lead guitar hook, a clever twist in the chorus california highway traffic condition and a great melody, california highway traffic condition and the side-closers are both outstanding. In between, we're treated to some mellow country rock of the Outlaws variety, with some excellent steel guitar california highway traffic condition and some highly appropriate california highway traffic condition and surprisingly tuneful vocals, california highway traffic condition and the occasional fuzz guitar putting in a welcome appearance.
